Perfect Fall Maxi…

IMG_9543IMG_9548IMG_9510IMG_9591IMG_9604IMG_9636Fall is my absolute favorite time of year to shop. For some reason, there’s nothing I love more than sifting through varying pieces to use for layering. For some reason I feel like the possibilities are so much more endless than with summer or spring shopping, where the clothes tend to come off a little bit. It’s much easier to add interest and depth to an outfit when you’re piling it on.

That said, a little shout out to one of my best friends back home! My friend Megan has great style herself, and she knows the way to my heart when it comes to clothing for sure. My birthday was a couple of months ago and I found she had left me a lovely little present in my inbox to do some shopping at Urban Outfitters, and lord knows I can’t hang onto a gift card for very long, so I was quickly watching the inventory for something perfect and unique for fall when I came across this skirt. SOLD! Thanks Megan! You’re seriously the best :)

I was obsessed with this skirt the moment I saw it, from the gorgeous scarf print, to the beautiful fall-inspired bright colors, to the flattering length and fit. Don’t have to show me twice, it was in my cart so fast. This skirt was even better when it arrived, with the high waist making it easy to pair with crops and sweaters alike…not to mention hide those food bumps from a night of chowing at happy hour. I didn’t want to take away too much, so my first time wearing it, the pairing of choice was a simple whit crop top, allowing the pretty colors to really pop. For when it cooled down at night (because that is LA’s definition of fall – night time) I chose an awesome striped and oversized cardigan for added texture, and a bit of pattern mixing with the scarf print, and of course, topped off the look with my favorite hat for fall. For the cherry on top, you can never go wrong with layered delicate gold necklaces and rings. I think this is officially my go-to fall outfit for when I’m in a pinch and don’t want to think too hard. We may be seeing this one a lot….

Laziest Blogger Ever…

IMG_7553IMG_7578IMG_7606IMG_7620

Apparently I just gave up this last month. I would say that things have been abnormally busy but that’s just a lie…I’ve been extremely lazy. In all honesty, this past month I have valued sleeping in over morning shooting, and working out over evening shooting. This outfit is not even from the recent weeks where I’ve been getting busier at work, it’s from a casual day of running errands like over a month ago. Woo!!! LAZY.

Actually, this whole look is lazy. My makeup is not primed, and therefore barely there by the time my naturally oily skin could get around to being photographed, and my hair is product free and frizzing out with little flyaways from being near the ocean part of the day. At least my skirt is wrinkle-free….oh. Nope. Wait, I see a few….

Fail. Sometimes putting together new outfits and taking the time to do things right is simply not worth it. Like on a Wednesday. Which I believe this was….screw it.

But on the outfit note, I’m wearing this year’s version (in tan) of these sandals from last summer, available at DSW… along with my favorite denim skater skirt, and a French Connection blouse I found shoved in the back of my closet with the tags still on from the 2009/2010 era I believe. Thank goodness for the classic candy stripe. I remember purchasing it, I can’t believe it had gone this long unnoticed and forgotten. Good work, Renee. You’re awesome.

California Casual.

The trend around the beaches these days is everything ripped, and everything shredded. My beach days tend to fall on Sundays the most. I think that’s just the day I feel most ok with being lazy, not trying too hard, and baking in the sun for so long that I’m oddly worn out and get nothing else done. Since it still get’s a little cool by the beach most days (our really warm weather doesn’t usually happen as consistently until late summer) this happened to be a day where I felt like I needed the full sleeve length. This is a light sweater, and the ombre dip-dye and distressed details are perfect for that grungy, skater beach vibe that is oh-so-in right now.

I took my favorite high-waisted cutoffs, added the distressed sweater, and tossed on the most classic Venice Beach staple of all: Vans. These three elements are the exact recipe for that California casual beach-kid look. Looks like I’m blending right in.
