This look is from last week, where I was able to sneak downtown to a friend’s work-loft to get some things done, grab a bite to eat with friends, and hey…why not shoot the day’s outfit on the roof with a solid view of downtown in the background. Not to mention, it’s been gorgeous pretty much ever since LA was pelted with rain for a few days. In fact, warmer than I thought, the jacket was almost unnecessary.
Most of you who know me, know that I am a music freak. I am constantly expanding my library, searching for new bands to listen to and concerts to go to. It’s no shock that I have a hefty supply of “band tees” and muscle tanks I like to throw on to give my outfits a little bit of a rocker spin. My musical tastes are literally all across the board, especially indie. However, nothing – I mean NOTHING – keeps me away from old school hip-hop and 90s music. My Tupac tank was just what I needed to unsweeten some of my girly looks as of lately. (Posts on those coming soon). An all-time favorite artist, Tupac is just classic. Not to mention this shirt graphic is phenomenal. I love the way the grungier look of a rock tee or in this case, a rapper-painted muscle tank, can add just the perfect amount of contrast and edge to any outfit. I will pair them with anything! In honor of the sunshine, and an edgier look, I chose my bright red skinnies as a punch of color, and followed up with my ASOS leather jacket and leopard flats for a touch of feminine pattern. And the cherry on top? My California state necklace, paying tribute to the deceased with some “California Love.”
